Comus Float Design

Description

This float design from the 1909 Comus parade was designed by Jenny Wilde, who was among the first women designers in Carnival history. Wilde designed floats and costumes for Comus and Momus between 1901 and 1912. The theme for the 1909 parade was “Flights of Fancy,” which portrayed numerous fabled characters of mythical lands. This float plate depicts St. George and the dragon.
