Peer Review Process

Manuscripts may be submitted at any time, however, please observe the following schedule for submission decisions:

  • Submit by December 31st for a spring semester decision
  • April 30th for a summer session decision
  • August 31st for a fall semester decision

Through a peer-review and faculty-review editorial process, manuscripts are examined for the qualities and caliber that make the research appropriate for publication. The Editorial Board or Editor-in-Chief will conduct the preliminary review and will assign manuscripts that pass the first cut to reviewers.  The faculty reviewer(s) shall be an expert in the field, other than the faculty research mentor. Whenever possible, a blind review process will guarantee a fair review of the manuscript.  We expect manuscripts will be subjected to revisions for content and grammar, depending on the comments of the faculty and student reviewers and copy editors.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Tulane Undergraduate Research Journal is to encourage, recognize, and reward intellectual activity beyond the classroom, while providing a forum for the exchange of research and ideas. The Journal encourages students to become engaged in research by displaying examples of what is studied and by offering the means of communicating knowledge to fellow students, researchers, and the general public.
