During Hurricane Katrina, Howard-Tilton Memorial Library and Jones Hall sustained significant damage to their basement areas. As a result of the damage, the basement level of Howard-Tilton, including the mechanical systems housed there, is being entirely refurbished and the collections that are being salvaged from the basement are being moved to other floors.
