Find An Article
Finding articles is a two-step process. First, search one of our databases to identify article citations and/or abstracts;
second, locate the complete article in either online or paper format. Some databases combine these two steps by making complete article
available from a link within the citation.
- Identifying article citations
- To find citations on a research topic, begin by searching one of our
online databases (access restricted to Tulane affiliates only).
- For help identifying an appropriate database on your topic, consult the "Research by
Subject" page or contact us for assistance (or 504) 865-5605.
- Finding complete articles
- Some databases include complete articles (access restricted to Tulane affiliates only).
Look for a link labeled "full-text" or "text" next to or within the citation. You can print out the article or, in most cases, e-mail it to yourself.
- If full text is not available from the database, search the library's
catalog, entering the title of the periodical as a "Journal Title" search.
- Paper copies of the periodical may be available in the library. See the FAQ for information on
periodical locations within the library.
- The catalog may contain links to an online source for the periodical.
- If the periodical does not come up in a search of the library's catalog, there is one more place to check:
The list of e-journals includes all periodicals available online
through all sources, including some not listed in the catalog. Listings include a link to the appropriate online source. Access is restricted to
Tulane affiliates only.
- If the article is not found through any of the above, you may place an
Interlibrary Loan request for it.
