Information About Tulane Libraries Reopening, Including Limited H-TML Reopening August 10-18

The Tulane University Libraries have begun their phased reopening to current Tulane affiliates.  Reopening phases will continue through August 24th.  Further details are below.

Howard-Tilton Memorial Library (H-TML)

Howard-Tilton Memorial Library will re-open with limited access on Monday, August 10.  Through August 18, access will be restricted to graduate students and faculty, as well as staff whose offices are in the building (CELT, Taylor Center, ILC), to prepare for the fall 2020 semester.  The physical material pickup service for all current affiliates, including undergrads, will continue through our request service, but general entry will be limited to these groups.  We look forward to welcoming all current Tulane students, faculty, and staff to H-TML when uptown campus classes resume August 19th.

The Latin American Library (4th floor, H-TML)

In the The Latin American Library there will be a soft opening for faculty, graduate students, and staff from August 10 from August 18.

Tulane University Special Collections (TUSC) (Jones Hall)

On Monday, August 24, Tulane University Special Collections, which includes the Hogan Jazz Archive, the Louisiana Research Collection, the Southeastern Architecture Archive, University Archives, and Rare Books, will begin serving researchers by appointment in the Schiro Reading Room on the second floor of Jones Hall.  No walk-in services will be available.  Only current Tulane students, faculty, and staff can make a research appointment.  Please see the Libraries’ home page for more information, or contact TUSC at: specialcollections@tulane.edu.   

Matas Library of the Health Sciences

The Matas Library of the Health Sciences is now open.

Hours:
  • 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday
Matas Library opened for downtown program affiliates on Monday, August 3.  Seating capacity is limited and is being monitored; when full, doors will be locked until space opens again.  The Mezzanine level remains closed to users, and the computer lab on that level is only available for examinations scheduled through the School of Medicine.  The main entrance doors will be closed; entry is via the side (24 hour) access door.  Please have your Tulane ID (Splashcard) with you.

We hope to begin extending hours and capacity shortly.  Please see the Matas website for the latest hours and other pertinent information.

Requirements (All Locations)

Everyone entering the library must have a mask or other face covering and wear it during their time in all library spaces.

We ask that you do not bring or consume food and drink our spaces for the general welfare of our staff and community.  Food and drink are never permitted when using rare collections.

All users will need to have their Tulane ID (Splashcard) with them.  Access to Howard-Tilton will be via our turnstile system; Matas users will need to swipe their cards at the side (24 hour) entrance.
