New Online Collection Acquisitions for Fall 2018

A number of signficant new digital collections have been acquired by Howard-Tilton Memorial Library for Fall 2018.  These include subject-related compilations of eBooks from major scholarly publishers, publishers' collections of classic or historic titles, and facsimile collections of manuscripts, archival materials, or government documents such as U.S. Congessional Hearings or British Parliamentary Papers.  All are now available as links to individual titles accessible via the main search box on the library web site, the library catalog , or, where appropriate, to collection platforms linked to the library's databases list.

Behavioral Sciences & Psychology 2018 Springer | Nature Science & Engineering EBook Collection With over 50 new titles annually, the Springer Behavioral Science collection covers a wide range of key areas for scholars, practitioners, and graduate students. The collection contains monographs on specialized topics, practical professional books, invaluable reference works, and key textbooks. Example titles: Handbook of Resilience in Children; Handbook of Cancer Survivorship; Handbook of Response to Intervention.
Digital Loeb Classical Library (Perpetual Access) Harvard University Press Humanities Historical Ebooks Covers epic and lyric poetry; tragedy and comedy; history, travel, philosophy, and oratory; the great medical writers and mathematicians; Church Fathers who made particular use of pagan culture. More than 530 volumes of Latin, Greek, and English texts are available in a modern and elegant interface, allowing readers to browse, search, bookmark, annotate, and share content.
Literature 2018 Oxford Handbooks Online Humanities EBook Collection This handbook series includes essays on most aspects of poetry, prose, verse, and drama in English, and will also include work on Film Studies. Its chronological range extends from around 1300 to the present day. Its principal focus is on writing produced in the British Isles and North America, but it will include a growing body of work relating to literature from other English-speaking regions of the world.

Black Drama -  3rd edition Proquest |Alexander Street Press Humanities Manuscripts and Archives Black Drama contains the full text of more than 1,700 plays written from the mid-1800s to the present by more than 200 playwrights from North America, English-speaking Africa, the Caribbean, and other African diaspora countries. Many of the works are rare or out of print.  More than 40 percent of the collection consists of previously unpublished plays by writers such as Langston Hughes, Ed Bullins, Willis Richardson, Amiri Baraka, Randolph Edmonds, Zora Neale Hurston, and  others.

Congressional Hearings Digital Collections: I 2016, J 2017, K 2018 ProQuest Social Sciences Government Documents Hearings are often the most requested of all government documents as they have real-life stories, statistics, expert testimony, and the drama of the interrogation all rolled into a single document. Hearings give researchers the ability to discover to whom Congress is listening, who the players were in an issue, and how they positioned themselves in the debate.   These collections supplement the digital hearings the library has purchased that cover earlier periods.
Congressional Record Permanent Collection 2002-2005 ProQuest Social Sciences Government Documents Congressional Record Permanent Digital Collection has the authoritative digital full text of all four of these titles—the Congressional Record, Annals of Congress, the Register of Debates, and the Congressional Globe.  Researchers use this resource to  track legislative activities and discover the text of bills, amendments to resolutions, roll call votes, conference reports, debates, correspondence to foreign governments from Cabinet secretaries, and much more.
