Placing Holds on Checked Out Items

Holds

Holds are appropriate for items that are due soon or overdue. Placing a hold prevents other patrons from checking the item out or renewing their loan. 

Placing Holds in Library Search

To place the item on hold, first click on the item's call number to open more information about the item.

click on the call number


Then, click on GET IT or scroll down to the GET IT section.

click on the Sign-in link


Sign in with your Tulane username and password.

click on sign in


Click on Hold.


Go to the drop down menu for Pickup Location.


You may choose from Howard Tilton Check-Out Desk, Matas Health Science Library that is downtown, or the Architecture Library.


You can see your requests in your account and you can cancel any requests from there.



Placing Recalls or Holds in the classic catalog

To recall an item or place the item on hold in the classic catalog, first click on the Make a Request link. You will be prompted to log in to your library account.

Then, click on "Place a Hold for a checked out item" or "Recall an item that is checked out".

Finally, enter your Splash Card ID or barcode, then click Submit.
