Giving

Tulane

When you give to Tulane Libraries, you give to all of Tulane: students, faculty, alumni, and the greater New Orleans community. Gifts are essential to supporting Tulane’s teaching and research missions. Donations help transform spaces, expand services, obtain materials, and preserve rare collections. Your support also funds staff training and recognizes outstanding student workers. Help us invest in our future.

Ways to Make a Donation

Your donations make a difference in the lives of the students and scholars of today and tomorrow. We gratefully welcome financial donations in any amount. Here are the ways you can donate.

Gifts of Materials

The library prioritizes accepting gifts that have clear academic or research value to Tulane University, particularly those created by or representing marginalized groups and materials relevant to New Orleans and its region. We do not accept popular literature or redundant academic materials, and unscheduled drop-offs are not allowed. If you believe you have valuable items, please contact a subject liaison librarian directly.

Gifts are tax deductible, and for non-cash donations over $5,000, an independent appraisal is required. We advise consulting a tax expert for up-to-date advice on deductions.

The library also welcomes major gifts, including bequests, deferred gifts providing lifetime income, and outright gifts like cash or securities. These can contribute to or establish endowed funds. For details on making such gifts, contact Tulane’s Office of Gift Planning at (800) 999-0181, giftplanning@tulane.edu, or online at giftplanning.tulane.edu

Tulane University Special Collections and The Latin American Library have specific policies for gifts.
