Tulane University Libraries Unveils New Website
Published
Tulane University Libraries today announced the launch of its new website, a cornerstone of a comprehensive visual identity renewal designed in partnership with the international design firm Mubien. The site will go live the week of December 15, 2025, culminating a strategic, two-year initiative to better serve students, faculty, staff, and the global research community.
We face a crossroads in information discovery when web-based search engine use is declining and AI summaries reduce traffic to original sources. The need for authoritative, well-structured academic portals and expert metadata and description has never been greater. This website positions Tulane University Libraries to meet users where they are and where they need to go, serving as a trusted digital partner for research and learning.
The project was led from start to finish by Rawad Nahhas, Communications Manager, and Taylor Meyers, Web Developer II, whose dedication and expertise guided the initiative to its successful completion. This launch is also made possible by the contributions of numerous library employees who provided essential feedback and support throughout the process.
“We have responded to changes in the way our community seeks information and creates knowledge by creating a digital home that reflects Tulane’s kaleidoscopic brilliance and supports teaching, learning, and research at every stage and in every mode,” said Lindsay Cronk, Dean of Tulane University Libraries. “Our new website embodies our commitment to and investment in transforming disciplinary boundaries into fertile ground for inspiration, collaboration, and meaning-making.”
“With millions of visits to our curated content each year, this update makes our vast collections and specialized services, both digital and physical, more accessible. Our new website provides infrastructure worthy of Tulane’s unique interdisciplinary strengths and transdisciplinary aspirations. "
Key features of the new website include:
- A Trusted, Human-Curated Gateway: In an era of unattributed automated summaries, the site centers sources and expertise, making it easy to find and explore trustworthy resources.
- Community-Driven Development: The project was grounded in extensive user research, including focus groups with students, faculty, and staff at the outset, ensuring the final product meets the real-world needs of the Tulane community.
- Highlighting Library Expertise: The site structure centers librarians and specialists who provide core services, connecting Tulanians with the University’s most valuable information resources.
- Aesthetic Inspired by New Orleans: The new visual identity, which the website embodies, draws on typography reminiscent of the city's iconic jazz culture, blending historical charm with academic prestige.
Background:
The launch of the Home | TU Libraries website is the public-facing culmination of a partnership with Mubien, which also delivered a full suite of updated brand guidelines. It moves beyond an outdated digital presence to create a platform that actively facilitates discovery and interdisciplinary collaboration, aligning with the university's broader vision and the libraries' strategic goal to Elevate Visibility and Collaboration.
