Jillian Cuellar selected as an Association of Research Libraries Leadership Fellow
Jillian Cuellar, Director of Tulane University Special Collections, has been selected as a 2021-22 Leadership Fellow for the Association of Research Libraries. This is the first time Tulane University has had a participant in the program.
Launched in 2004 to prepare future senior library and archival leaders, the program has successfully equipped and supported library and archives staff who have the desire and potential for leadership in a variety of research settings, including ARL member institutions, other research libraries and archives, public and private institutions, knowledge and cultural heritage institutions, and private enterprise worldwide.
“It’s an honor to be selected to join the 2021-2022 cohort of the ARL Leadership Fellows. The program offers an unparalleled learning opportunity with a dynamic group of colleagues from leading research institutions across North America. As an archivist by training, I am particularly excited to demonstrate how archives and special collections are integral to advancing the mission of research libraries. I look forward to working with my cohort to consider how we can address the complex issues facing research libraries today with creativity, intentionality, and compassion,” says Jillian.
The ARL Leadership Fellows Program Selection Working Group and the Leadership Fellows Task Force chose 20 fellows from across the US and Canada for the 2021–2022 Leadership Fellows cohort, bringing together a diverse and highly accomplished group of library leaders, which represent the broadest range of research institutions and communities in the history of the Leadership Fellows program.
“Jillian's experience and potential for further growth made her a strong contender for this competitive program, and it's a great vote of confidence in her that she was selected,” says David Banush, Dean of Libraries and Academic Information Resources, and a former ARL Leadership Fellow.
