Tulane Hosts the Annual SALALM Meeting
Tulane will be the site of the 69th annual meeting of the Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials (SALALM) 8-12 June at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel in the French Quarter. Since 1956, SALALM is the foremost professional association for Latin Americanist academic library and archival collections. Each year, the conference is held in a different city in the U.S., Latin America or Europe, with about 180 librarians, archivists, book dealers, editors, faculty, students, and other book/information professionals in attendance to discuss issues relating to the control and dissemination of research and academic publishing, book/information production and distribution from and about the region. Led by Christine Hernández, LAL Curator for Special Collections and SALALM President 2023-24, the topic for next year’s conference resonates with the celebration of 100 years of Latin American Studies at Tulane.
