“A Distinctive Trajectory: Reshaping Histories at the Latin American Library”, a major exhibit at the Latin American Library (LAL)

On June 10, the Latin American Library (LAL) inaugurated “A Distinctive Trajectory: Reshaping Histories at the Latin American Library”, a major exhibition commemorating a century of Tulane University’s dedication to Latin American Studies. The exhibit tells the story of the library’s development through key collections, underscoring how the focus on the region has been influenced by New Orleans’ historical connections with Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The story not only honors the past but also encourages reflection on how collective memory is continually redefined by new technologies, social values, and shifting scholarly approaches. The exhibit will be up through January 2025.  You are welcome to visit the exhibit during Howard-Tilton Memorial Library hours. Mark your calendars for September 27 when the LAL will host an open house for the Tulane and New Orleans communities to view the exhibition.
