Events & Exhibitions

Throughout the academic year, The Doris Z. Stone Latin American Library and Research Center hosts a robust schedule of exhibits, invited speakers, and special events that bring together Tulane faculty, students, and staff with local communities and visitors. All events are free and open to the public.

Recurring events are:

• The annual Doris Stone LAL Open House, usually held in late September to welcome new Latin Americanist faculty and students at the start of the academic year. The event typically features an exhibit of notable acquisitions from the previous year and informal talks with guest speakers.
• A Day of the Dead ofrenda coordinated by staff member Verónica Sánchez. The offering is accompanied by educational material for class visits by students from Tulane as well as from local New Orleans high schools. See the video, The Day of the Dead at The Latin American Library, for more. 
• Richard E. Greenleaf Library Fellowship Works-in-Progress Talks. Every spring, each Greenleaf Fellow presents an informal talk on their ongoing project at the Library. There are usually three or four during the Spring semester.

In addition to these recurring events, the Doris Stone LAL regularly hosts one-time exhibition openings and invited speakers to present scholarly work relating to the Library and Research Center’s collections.
