Book Request Service

Tulane students, faculty and staff using Howard-Tilton Memorial Library can have items from the stacks pulled for them and made ready for pickup at the library's Check Out Desk. The service was begun during the COVID pandemic, but has been continued to assist users in quickly obtaining books from the library's general stacks.

Books can be requested for pickup as an option within the Library Search interface or local catalog.  This is done by a using a Request Delivery option available when viewing a full record of an item from the catalog

Moreover, students, faculty and staff working remotely outside of Orleans Parish, Louisiana may request the Mail option provided with the Request Delivery function. To request an item to be mailed, write a note in the COMMENT section. Items will be mailed to your mailing address listed in the library system.  A limit of five items per daily request applies. If you have questions, contact the Check Out Desk at circ@tulane.edu or (504) 865-5689.

The Howard-Tilton book stacks remain accessible for browsing. Those finding books on their own can still speed through the check out process using the library's new self-check out station or try the meeScan self-check out app.
