Louisiana Research Collection: Ephemera at Tulane 

Tulane University Special Collections (TUSC) holds a rich collection of ephemera compiled by the Louisiana Research Collection. This collection includes printed materials from Louisiana and New Orleans covering topics such as: 

• Restaurants and nightclubs
• Heritage and preservation societies
• LGBT businesses and organizations
• African American businesses and organizations
• Horticultural societies and garden clubs
• Social welfare and charitable organizations
• Synagogues, churches, and religious groups
• Theaters, cabarets, and performing arts clubs
• Neighborhood and community organizations
• Social, ethnic, and fraternal organizations
• Art societies, galleries, fairs, and auctions
• Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts
• Environmental and conservation groups
• Business and civic affairs groups 

The collection is particularly strong in: 

• Art ephemera dating back to circa 1900
• Political ephemera dating back to circa 1840
• Theater ephemera dating back to circa 1820

Vertical Files from the Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz 

TUSC also maintains a collection of vertical files compiled by the Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz. Containing information on people, bands, discography, and subjects relevant to New Orleans music and history, these vertical files include items such as newspaper clippings, correspondence, unpublished writings, ephemera, and journal articles, as well as public documents and official records.

Find Music Scores and Sheet Music

TUSC has an extensive collection of sheet music and orchestrations spanning nearly two centuries of popular music. To find available sheet music and scores in TUSC collections, use keywords like "sheet music" or "music score," or the composer’s name, and/or specific title when searching through our archival collections.

The digitized Louisiana sheet music collection can be accessed online via the Tulane University Digital Library.
