As Hogan Archive curator and a member of the Tulane University Special Collections curatorial team, Melissa A. Weber oversees the responsible stewardship, accessibility, and discoverability of archival collections and primary source materials related to the music and culture of New Orleans and the surrounding region. Her work includes collection development, acquisitions, reference and research services, donor relations, formal instruction, and outreach and community engagement.

A native New Orleanian, Weber holds an M.A. in Musicology from Tulane University and a B.A. in Communications, with a minor in English Writing, from the University of New Orleans. Her research and expertise focus on 20th-century Black American popular music and the music and culture of New Orleans. She has presented at academic conferences for the American Musicological Society, International Association for the Study of Popular Music, National Council for Black Studies, National Council of African American Librarians, Radio Preservation Task Force of the Library of Congress, Society of American Archivists, and the Society for Ethnomusicology, among others.

Outside of her archival work, Weber is a music historian, educator, writer, and lifelong music enthusiast whose interests span a wide range of genres and musical traditions.
