Geographic Information Systems

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a technology that allows users to manage, visualize, and analyze spatial data utilizing maps. Howard-Tilton Memorial Library provides access to a diverse set of software, data, tools, databases, and other research support for GIS and geospatial research.  Librarians can help users find web sources for spatial data, get started with GIS software through tutorials, training, and consult on GIS-related research projects.

Consultation guidelines

  • The librarian provides consultations to the Tulane community only.
  • The librarian can help with a project but cannot do it for users.

  2. Be able to understand, repeat, and explain all analyses done and the decision-making process chosen.
